Kodansha has ordered a prepublication reprint of a new picture book by Japanese illustration duo Harapeko Megane. The publisher announced the additional printing on October 21, ahead of the book’s planned November 4, 2026 release.
The book centres on freshly fried croquettes and has a listed price of ¥1,980 including tax. Kodansha attributes the reprint decision to responses from bookstores and online booksellers; it gives no printing quantity in the announcement.
The duo formed in 2011 and made its picture-book debut in 2012, according to the publisher. An earlier picture book by the duo won the 74th Shogakukan Children’s Publishing Culture Award in 2025, giving the forthcoming food-themed book a connection to an established picture-book practice.
Kodansha has also released an eight-page preview. The new printing is an advance production decision, not an announcement that publication has moved earlier or that all shops have sold out.
