Five tracks from HAL ca’s new album WA/VE will be rearranged for an 11.1-channel installation in Shimokitazawa on November 13 and 14. The free exhibition combines the music with FLIGHTGRAF’s moving-light work LOOP at the venue in the Mikan Shimokita complex’s E block.
The album itself arrives digitally on October 23 and contains seven tracks. Its exhibition version is therefore a selection rebuilt for spatial playback, rather than simply the full album played in a room. LOOP adds illuminated discs that repeatedly move vertically, providing a physical counterpart to the multichannel sound.
Exhibition hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 13 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 14. The second day’s installation closes before the release party starts at 8 p.m.; it will not be on view during the party. The venue is closed to entry between 7 and 8 p.m. for the changeover. Free admission is stated for the exhibition, so readers should check the party’s separate arrangements.
A limited 12-inch vinyl edition is also taking orders at 6,000 yen including tax, plus shipping. The deadline is November 12, but orders may end earlier if the planned quantity is reached. Dispatch is scheduled to begin in late November.
