Fujiya’s Halloween cake selection does not all arrive on the same day. Its caramel-mousse dome cake is scheduled for October 22 at ¥648, followed on October 23 by a pumpkin-and-purple-sweet-potato charlotte at ¥540, a ghost-shaped Milky cake at ¥680 and a berry cake at ¥540. All listed prices include tax.
The dome cake belongs to Fujiya’s monthly series timed to the 22nd, its shortcake day. The ghost-shaped cake has a chewy outer layer around sponge and mousse. The charlotte uses pumpkin from Hokkaido and purple sweet potato from Kagoshima.
Fujiya says the releases are for its pastry shops across Japan, with some products also sold at selected Fujiya restaurants. Shops may not carry every item, and stock can run out. Eat-in purchases use the standard 10% tax rate, so the published prices differ from eat-in prices.
