Applications for the 2027 Kyoto French music academy must arrive by December 15, 2026. The program runs March 23–April 4 in Kyoto, with no lessons on April 3. Music students and performers aged thirteen or older may apply regardless of nationality.
The academy lists an entrance fee of 15,000 yen and tuition of 160,000 yen per masterclass subject. Participants normally receive five individual lessons of approximately one hour, with accompaniment and interpretation, and may observe other classes. Optional courses cost extra; returning participants should check the brochure for the stated entrance-fee discount rather than assume it applies to everyone.
The academy began in 1990 and says more than 3,900 young performers have attended. Its 36th edition brings eleven musicians from France for voice, piano, strings and wind-instrument classes. This is an application for specialist training, separate from public attendance: designated public class-observation sessions on March 27 and 28 have their own ticket arrangements, with sales planned for January 2027.
