Kurume City Art Museum in Fukuoka began using the free Pocket Curator museum-guide app on October 24, 2026, developer Waseda System Development announced on October 30. Local junior-college students training for voice work contributed narration.
The current collection exhibition presents about 100 works selected from more than 300 collected over ten years. The museum reduced explanatory panels where possible while adding access to commentary through visitors’ phones.
International fan outlook and trend context — Editorial forecast
The museum’s approach contrasts fewer room panels with phone-based commentary, while the narration brings local voice students into the exhibition. Editorial forecast: overseas visitors interested in voice performance and museum presentation may appreciate this combination because it lets them examine how narration supports an exhibition without adding more wall text.
The app itself is free; this is not a statement that museum admission is free. Check the museum for exhibition and admission details. The release does not identify the languages available for this particular guide.
