Matsudo’s science-art festival is under way on October 24 and continues on October 25, with exhibitions at the historic Tojo residence and surrounding venues in Chiba. Saturday’s program runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday finishes at 4 p.m. All times are Japan time.
General admission is 1,500 yen, with a 1,400-yen rate for high-school and university students and a 500-yen rate for people living, working or studying in Matsudo. Junior-high-school pupils and younger children enter free. The park and market do not require an exhibition ticket; workshops require advance booking and may carry separate charges.
One project connects gardens in Japan and Switzerland through research and art. Organizers report more than 300 participating sites, including 115 in Japan. Its results take forms including a tapestry and sound derived from data, showing how collective observation can become exhibition material. The festival also presents soil samples, letting visitors encounter the material behind the data.
