Sekiguchi’s crocodile plush from 1989 is returning in two sizes, with an early sales date of November 27 and a wider launch on December 4. The smaller format is a newly developed mascot keychain rather than a size carried over from the original range.
The standard S-size plush will cost 3,300 yen including tax and measures approximately 16 centimetres high. The keychain is priced at 2,750 yen and stands about 13.5 centimetres high. Both retain the crocodile-and-bird pairing, along with the red-and-white neckwear associated with the character.
For the S-size version, Sekiguchi says it developed an acrylic-pile fabric using the same type of material as the original plush. The keychain required a new pattern. These are two different approaches within the revival: reproducing an older toy’s texture and adapting its character design to a portable format.
The crocodile belonged to Sekiguchi’s character-plush series that was popular in the 1980s. Its return follows two other characters in the revival programme. Early sales are planned through the plush festival at Tokyo Solamachi, Kiddy Land Osaka Umeda and the official online shop’s advance-order channel. General sales are scheduled through character-goods retailers and online shops nationwide.
